I hope everyone is just as excited for 2018 as I am. A fresh start. A new outlook. A chance to start over. I’m using the start of this new year as a “restart” button. I think it’s time to reevaluate myself and give myself a reality check! Really, anyone can do it. What I mean is, take time, maybe 15 minutes or a couple hours, even, to reflect on the past year. How did you handle all of the situations thrown at you? If you answered, “Well, I guess I could’ve been better about some stuff… hindsight’s 20/20,” then you’re not alone. Take the time to reflect on how you reacted to things — good or bad — and use that to help you in the next year when faced with new hurdles. I guess what I’m trying to say is… “learn from your mistakes,” but, if I’m being honest, I’ve always thought that saying was a little harsh. Maybe because it can be embarrassing to relive past mistakes, however, that’s okay! What is in the past is in past: it’s over. You never have to worry about that stuff again. So, learn from it and better yourself! It’s actually pretty awesome when you think about it — you can take all of those shitty situations and from it, become a better and stronger person!
So before the ball drops in Times Square or the day after or even a week after the ball drops, it’s important to take time to reflect. Because you just learn so much when you do! Meditate on it, journal about it, blog about it, talk about it. If a beautiful flower can grow through all that dirt, you can make it through anything! 2018, bring it on!
