Blogger Recognition Award

Blogger Recognition Award

Hey guys!! I am so excited to announce that I have been nominated for the Blogger Recognition award!!! Huge thank you the wonderful Lena Dee for the nomination!

The Blogger Recognition Award is one of significant value given to bloggers by other bloggers for all their love and hard work they’ve put into their blogs. It is used as a positive reinforcement to motivate bloggers and help them to connect to many new readers.  With that being said, the recipient of this award must share their blogging background and two pieces of advice for all those blogger newbies, as well as nominate other bloggers.

So what is the Blogger Recognition Award?

The Blogger Recognition Award is one of the MOST awarded in the blogging industry. It is used to encourage growth and community among bloggers, and enables newbies to gain valuable advice and exposure. Since the award is a community effort, it is always fantastic to participate and encourage others do so, but if you chose not to, that’s also quite okay.

What is my blog about and why did I start writing?

(sorry guys, this is a long one!)

Ever since early high school, I knew I wanted to start a blog but I never felt that it was the “right time.” I was always too busy, not “creative” enough, not “likable” enough, not “ready.” As I sit here today, writing for my blog, as a full-time college student with a part-time job, I say, “enough” to the “not enough’s.”

As I ended my freshman year of college, I knew I needed change in my life. I was tired with the norm, at my heaviest weight, and bored with my routine. I knew I needed to shake things up. During the summer before my sophomore year I was able to travel to Germany with my parents, and that really gave me another outlook on life. There is more out there than just what is in your hometown, or your state, or even your country! After our trip, I fully adopted the mindset that I can create the life I want to live. So, I started eating healthier, doing yoga, being more mindful. I started to believe that if I’m tired with something in my life then I, specifically, have the power to change it! It’s all up to me. I spent the rest of the summer working on myself and “aligning my chakras,” and it was the best thing I’ve done for myself!

As sophomore year rolled around, I was ready for the challenge! My fall semester was a very productive one. I boosted my GPA, continued living healthier, and in late October/early November 2017 I realized I was ready to do something that I’ve always wanted to do – start a blog! I felt as though I was finally “ready” …even if it was a lot to take on while being a full-time college student. I came up with the name “Tiger Lily Diary” after brainstorming a lot and remembering the nickname my aunt gave to me as a child – “Tiger Lily.” It was like a lightbulb went off in my head! I knew that was the name I had to go with. So, I came up with a logo and other branding materials and starting thinking. Thinking of posts, social media strategies, ways to get engagement on my blog, timelines, etc. and two months later, here I am now!

My blog is about lifestyle and wellness because those are not only important to me, but they are very interesting to write about as well. Along with those two categories, I also write about design. Specifically, User Experience (UX) design. I feel like UX design has a lot of elements that can tie into what my blog is about because as a UX designer, you have to be able to take care of yourself, so you can take care of others’ wants and needs. I love all things design, art, marketing, consulting, and psychology. I hope to one day open up my own UX consulting firm and, with that, change the way user interfaces (websites, apps, etc.) are made for people.

Through this blog, I really found a passion for writing and journaling. I know, now, how it important it is to write your thoughts down and how amazing it is to be able to share those thoughts with the world through blogging. I love everything about blogging — I love being my own manager, connecting with new people, writing, designing, etc. I get so excited reading and responding to your comments, knowing that my words have connected with you in some ways.

If you’re still reading this part, THANK YOU! I want to let you all know, that I am always here to chat, if you need to rant, talk, need some advice, please reach out to me! Also, please know I’m always available to talk about blogging and collaborate with you guys!

Advice for new Bloggers

Whether you’re debating on starting a blog, or wondering if you should email that company to see if they want to collaborate… I say, go for it! You never know what amazing things can come from it and you will learn so much about yourself.

One other thing about this, is I truly think in the blogging world, that social media is your best friend. So utilize it! Promote the hell out of yourself; totally, 100% believe and be confident in yourself, and what you post. If you don’t believe in yourself, who will?

One of my favorite parts about blogging is that you can be your very own boss. That’s right, you don’t need approval from anyone, and you can post what you want, when you want. I don’t like it when bloggers try to say that there’s a “correct” way to blogging and that you have blog like three times a week and you have do this and you have to do that well… no that’s not the case at all. You do what works for you. If you want to take a week off – do it! If you want to post two blogs in a day – do it! Be in control and, again, always be confident in yourself.

I am new to blogging and I’m wondering how the recognition awards work. Is it through Twitter or some other platform or website?

I have never used Twitter, but it probably is useful to get more recognized as a blogger. I currently use Instagram and Google+ to promote my blogposts. Do you have any advice on starting a Twitter account for a newbie?

      Hi Svéa!

Yes, the awards are usually distributed through twitter! I use twitter and instagram, mostly, to promote my blogs. I would recommend following a bunch of other bloggers and interacting with them! For example, you could follow everyone I follow because I mostly follow just bloggers. Its really fun to meet new people on twitter and connect with them that way! I’m over at I will follow you back!!

      Have a lovely day,
