A Day in the Life: Sophomore Year Edition

A Day in the Life: Sophomore Year Edition

Welcome to a new series of mine that I’d like to call “A Day in the Life.” I will be updating this every once in a while, when I’m in a new stage of my life, like during a break, during summer, on vacation, etc.! I love reading these posts from other bloggers, so I thought it would be fun to share a day in the life of me!

For today’s edition, I’m going to explore a typical day for me at at college… bare with me, it’s a little hectic and a lot of walking!

7-8am: I wake up, take a shower, do my make up and anything else to get ready for the day! My mornings are usually pretty quick, so I definitely don’t have a relaxing morning routine while in college! I pack up my backpack and head out for the day (because when I leave in the morning, I usually don’t come back to my dorm until later in the evening!) which first includes getting breakfast at the dining hall next to my dorm! On a typical day I love to get green tea, scrambled eggs, a banana, and sometimes some hash browns!

8-10am: After having my breakfast, I walk to work and work until 10. Since I live on campus, I walk literally everywhere unless my boyfriend or roommate drives me! It’s kind of nice though, because I’m able to get my exercise and vitamin D in at the same time; but some days its really annoying since I live in the midwest and it can be rainy, sunny, and snowy all in one day!

10:20-11:40am: After leaving work at 10, I walk over to my first class of the day! This day, it’s my project management class. On a typical day, we talk about about important aspects of being a project manager. I really find the class interesting and love the whole psychological and social part of project managing.

11:50-12:50pm: Lunch! I usually go over to the food court which includes a small local bakery and, from there, I get a bagel, yogurt, and water. Usually, my boyfriend meets me for lunch because he doesn’t have class on Thursdays so it’s really nice to chat with him during this time! Then I head over to my next class: German Literature & Culture before 1918.

1-2:20pm: During my German class we typically discuss poems and readings that we’ve done ahead of time with small groups and then share it with the rest of my class. I really enjoy this class and find it super interesting. In fact, I only have this semester and then next and I will be finished with my German minor! I’ve been taking German since 8th grade so finally getting my minor is a big accomplishment for me.

2:30-5pm: Time to head back to work! I usually have a meeting with one of my bosses at 3pm and work on projects for the rest of the time. I spend my time at work brainstorming social media campaigns, running usability/accessibility tests on our websites, and brainstorming different ways to engage the student body through social media and on campus events.

5:00-5:30pm: Finally, dinner! by this time I’m usually pretty starving so I head over to the closest cafeteria and have some dinner! Lately, I’ve really been enjoying the vegan line (disclaimer: I’m not vegan) and have been getting what they have out for us that day.

5:30-?pm: During my evenings I spend the time getting stuff done! Homework, blogging things, and I even work some more during this time because I’m lucky enough to be able to work from my laptop if I want to! I usually try to fit in my yoga during this time too!

11:30pm: Between 11:30 and midnight every night I go to bed and sleep like a rock! Since my days are busy and I’m constantly on the go I sleep pretty well every night which is a blessing!!

So there you have it! I’ve outlined a typical Tuesday or Thursday for me. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays are a bit different because I have a different schedule but they’re very similar! I love my busy days and find that I do better in school when I’m busier. Do you feel the same way? I find that many people I talk to agree, because whenever I have only one thing to do, I usually procrastinate it, which I’m not very proud of but, hey, I’m a college student… it’s what we do!

Have a wonderful week,

This is super cool! I live in North Carolina, and we probably don’t get as cold as you guys but the weather is always changing so I totally understand the struggle haha!! It’s weird… today is 70° and tomorrow is 50° 🙂

Also, you know German? That’s awesome! My parents grew up in India so they know a couple different languages but I never fully picked any of them up. I would love to learn a new language but I’m sure it takes a lot of work! I can see that you’ve definitely put in the time to do that though!

I miss 70 degree weather so badly!! But I agree, I hate when it changes so drastically, day-to-day. And thank you! I’ve always wanted to be bilingual, it’s so cool to learn another language! It definitely take a lot of work, but its super fun!
